Nurse Practitioner Residency Program Re-Launched: Empowering the Next Generation of Healthcare Professionals
The Primary Health Network is excited to announce the re-launch of its Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Residency Program, offering an exceptional opportunity for aspiring nurse practitioners. This one-year, salaried residency program, starting in September 2026, aims to address healthcare provider shortages while enhancing recruitment and retention efforts. The program's focus on improving health outcomes in underserved communities makes it a valuable asset in the healthcare industry.
The CRNP Residency Program provides a comprehensive clinical framework, ensuring residents gain hands-on experience and essential skills. Here's a breakdown of the program's structure:
- 40% Precepted Continuity Clinics: Residents will have the opportunity to work directly in primary care settings, receiving hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced professionals.
- 20% Specialty Rotations: Residents can explore diverse specialties such as Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Women's Health, Urgent Care, and Telemedicine, gaining expertise in various healthcare areas.
- 20% Mentored Clinics: This segment focuses on acute and episodic care, allowing residents to develop their skills with supervision and guidance from experienced mentors.
- 20% Didactic Education: Residents will engage in classroom learning to reinforce clinical competencies. This includes lectures, case studies, and labs specifically tailored to FQHCs (Federally Qualified Health Centers), ensuring a well-rounded education.
The program accepts two residents annually, and successful completion leads to immediate employment at Primary Health Network. Residents will also have the chance to connect with other new nurse practitioners nationwide and participate in 'Project ECHO,' an innovative case-learning model that enhances preparation for complex healthcare scenarios through collaboration with specialists.
Primary Health Network emphasizes the program's commitment to investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals, ultimately leading to stronger, healthier communities. The application process involves online submissions, phone screenings, onsite interviews, and final selections. Candidates must submit a completed application, three letters of recommendation, and a personal statement. Eligibility criteria include completing the Family Nurse Practitioner program after August 2025 and being licensed in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
